Student Facilities
We have been privileged to have had $10 million to modernise and create a 21st century learning environment for your children. The project represents the most significant facility development in our school’s 85 year history. Complementing the heritage features of the original main school building, the new learning spaces create a dynamic and flexible environment for your child to learn in.
Each of the three main classroom pods – labelled the Exploring pod, Connecting pod and Discovery pod – deliver teaching and learning infrastructure tailored to contemporary education practices. Open plan classrooms create flexible learning spaces that allow a variety of teaching methods to be delivered. The L shaped configurations of the main teaching spaces allow teachers to collaborate and work together at desired times, while still having the space to develop strong relationships their own group of students. In between main classroom areas, each pod also incorporates a ‘neighbourhood zone’ with reading spaces, presentation area and wet area connected to shared outside learning spaces. The internal environment and design of each pod is slightly different to reflect the developmental needs of the children.
In addition to these three classroom pods, a purpose built Arts Precinct Area is located in the heart of the school, to the west of the Plaza. It features a dedicated visual arts room, and a well resourced Library, which is accessed by all students as the epicentre of the school. The gymnasium complex houses a full sized, sprung timber floor basketball stadium, internal toilets, performing arts studio, storage areas, industrial kitchen and hall complete with stage. The Japanese room is also within this complex.
Outdoor spaces include a refurbished oval, synthetic grass area, two basketball courts, two agility playgrounds, and spaces for quiet and active play.
Our aim is to make every child’s educational journey a positive, enriching experience and equip them with the skills to actively contribute to their 21st Century environment. With the completion of these new facilities, students at the school will enjoy a unique learning environment, where teaching practices and classroom facility design integrate to create a holistic approach to teaching and learning.
